Edible Reno-Tahoe: Cutting Edge, Chef Elsa Corrigan brings culinary passion to Mamasake

Raised in a home enriched by internationally savvy, well-traveled parents, Elsa Corrigan was introduced to cuisines from around the world while growing up in Los Altos, Calif.

“I’ve always really loved food, and I learned to use chopsticks by the time I was 8,” she says.

Despite her lifelong love affair with food, however, she was slow to recognize it as a career choice as she bounced through different majors while attending colleges in California and Colorado. It wasn’t until the mayor of Snowmass, Colo., hired her to work in his restaurant, il Poggio, that she became attracted to the restaurant business due to her culinary talents.
