About Mamasake's Sushi and Cal-Asian Cuisine
At MAMASAKE we aim to please with a menu
that will satisfy any size appetite and friendly service that
will bring you, your friends and your family back again and
again.
THE CHEF: Passionate
about the outdoors, travel and food, chef owner Elsa Corrigan
has skied at Tahoe since age 6 and has lived in the Tahoe area
since 1985. A graduate of the California Culinary Academy in
San Francisco, she honed her culinary chops at such well regarded
restaurants as Aqua, Restaurant Lulu and Acquerello in San Francisco,
Mustard’s in Napa Valley and several popular Tahoe spots
before opening Mamasake in 2002.
Active
in the Tahoe community, Elsa insures that MAMASAKE participates
in a wide a range of charity events and fundraisers including
the Autumn Wine and Food Festival, Best of Tahoe Chefs, Skate
the Lake for Breast Cancer, the Tahoe Community Nursery School’s
Celebrity Waiter Dinner, The Kid Zone, the Truckee Donner Land
Trust and many more.
THE AMBIANCE: An
immediate hit since it opened, MAMASAKE is a social gathering
place as much as it is a restaurant with great food. Decorated
with colorful murals by Stephan Knapp and architectural details
such recycled railroad ties from multiple colored hardwoods,
our windows offer a view of the infamous Tram Face and KT22
fingers- accenting the comfortable “mountain casual”
atmosphere.
Outrageous
Special Events - including the annual
Wasabi Eating Contest, Extreme Foods Tasting and ski and snowboard
premiers on our big screen - insure a super friendly vibe and
a great place to “chill”.
THE AREA: Known
for its Big Mountain skiing and skiers, Squaw Valley USA has
always been Northern California's favorite playground. Endless
snow, huge steeps, boundless sun and the towering peaks of Rock
Pile, Squaw Peak, and Granite Chief have made it a legend for
people who like to play in the mountains.
The
Village at Squaw (home to MAMASAKE) was built to support all
year round adventure no matter how you define it at the Resort
at Squaw Creek. From skiing and snow boarding to biking, hiking,
golfing and relaxing in the pool at High Camp; every season
is perfect for a stop at MAMASAKE.
